About the department
Our story began as the Jill Dando Institute, set up in 2001 in memory of the broadcaster Jill Dando.
In 2009, the Department of Security and Crime Science was established to facilitate the offering of postgraduate taught and research courses.
Today, the Department offers an undergraduate programme, master's courses, and PhD programmes, and our alumni have gone on to work in Government, security services, and academia.
