Project description: The central goal of this UK-India collaborative research project is to leverage the unique strengths, and complementary expertise in both countries, to address the challenges in delivering future services, resilient networks, spectrum innovation, and 6G.The combination of UK’s global leadership in advanced communication, sensing, and AI technologies with India’s scale and innovation capacity makes this collaboration not only timely but uniquely positioned to advance global leadership in next-generation wireless technologies. To address the above challenges we identify the below objectives:
Technical objectives:
- To minimize or significantly reduce the cost-per-bit for RF sensing services in ISAC networks, targeting at least an order of magnitude improvement over current 5G benchmarks
- To develop comprehensive resilience strategies that ensure ISAC networks maintain at least 99.99% operational uptime even under adverse conditions, while reducing network recovery time by 50% compared to current 5G benchmarks.
- Identify optimal THz spectrum bands and technologies for ISAC that minimize propagation losses and maximize power efficiency, enhancing overall network performance and cost-efficiency.Impact objectives:
- Establish a network of excellence across UK and India on the topic of ISAC and related technologies.
- Train the next generation of experts on the cross-domain skills in ISAC research and development.
- Translate the outcomes of the collaboration into industry and into the wireless standards.
