Professor Tony Kenyon gave evidence to the House of Commons Science, Innovation & Technology Committee on Tuesday, 1 July.
Speaking as part of a session on the sustainability of computing and AI, Professor Kenyon highlighted the urgent need to rethink how we design computing systems. He presented neuromorphic computing, hardware and software inspired by the structure and function of the human brain, as a promising path forward.
Neuromorphic systems have the potential to deliver significant improvements in energy efficiency, offering a viable solution to the growing environmental impact of traditional computing.
