During Reading Week, students from across disciplines took part in an intensive Health Hackathon focused on lymphoedema, an under-researched and under-funded condition. Working alongside academics, clinicians, people with lived experience and external partners, students developed creative, patient-centred solutions to real-world health challenges.
The one-week programme brought together 31 students from seven academic disciplines, culminating in five final pitches, with a £1,000 cash prize up for grabs (thanks to Haddenham Healthcare!). Teams received mentoring and pitching guidance from experts and UCL alumni, gaining hands-on experience in healthcare innovation, teamwork and rapid problem-solving.
Our Health Hackathon Impact Report highlights the ideas developed, skills gained, and the value of collaborative, community-engaged innovation.
