This Monday, Dr. Yukun Hu, Dr. Shen Wei, and Dr. Ruiqiu Yao proudly hosted the Future of Building Energy Forum, a successful and engaging event that brought together industrial partners and academic researchers to discuss the key challenges and opportunities in the future of sustainable buildings. The Forum was kindly supported by CIBSE Intelligent Buildings, ASHRAE UK Chapter, and CIB (International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction).
We were honoured to welcome our invited speakers: Dr. Zhen Ye from UCL BSSC, Dr. Johannes Persson from ACC Glas, Laxshana Chandrakanthan from Sweco UK, Chris Leslie from Tempcon Ltd, Adetunji Lawal from Wates Group, and Reuben Barker from Estra Hub.
Their presentations addressed several important themes, including energy efficiency premiums and mortgage lending in UK property transactions, Al in building energy transformation, building decarbonisation, built environment monitoring, passive ventilation, heating & cooling strategies, and human thermal comfort. These topics together highlighted the strong interdisciplinary nature of building energy research and its growing importance in the transition towards zero-carbon, efficient, and user comfort buildings. In addition, building energy efficiency is achieved when the building envelope, ventilation, heating and cooling, air flows, and room geometry work together.
This successful Forum created a valuable opportunity for bridging the academia and industry. We sincerely thank all of our invited speakers and attendees for making the event so insightful and enjoyable, and we look forward to future development of building energy sector!
