Celebrating Professor Julius Mugwagwa's Inaugural Lecture

On 26th February, Professor Julius Mugwagwa reflected on his academic journey, from his roots and being raised in Zimbabwe to his time at UCL. His Inaugural Lecture illuminated how his career via education in the life sciences, veterinary research, the pharmaceutical industry and the broader science-technology-and-society interface, set the intellectual constructs for his current and future research, knowledge exchange and teaching interests in innovation and development broadly and specifically health innovation and public policy.  

It was an inspiring evening filled with insightful discussions, and it was fantastic to see so many colleagues, students, and guests, both in person and online engaging with these ideas. A big thank you to Professor Joanna Chataway for the introduction and Professor Yacob Mulugetta for closing the event on such a high note! Julius shared his gratitude, saying:

This historic tradition is a key part of university life, offering a platform for our newly promoted professors to present their pioneering research and contributions to their fields.
