Alex (Yanqing) Chen has been awarded the best thesis award for his MSc research project as a student of the MSc Nature-Inspired Solutions. His project, titled “Strategies to improve the antimicrobial performance of protein-based materials”, was carried out at the Manufacturing Futures Lab under the supervision of Dr Diego Lopez Barreiro.
Alex was part of the first cohort of students of the MSc Nature-Inspired Solutions at UCL Chemical Engineering and the Centre for Nature-Inspired Engineering during the academic year 2023/2024. He received the prize during the UCL Ramsay Society dinner, an annual event that brings together students, alumni, staff, and special guests to commemorate the achievements of UCL Chemical Engineering over the past year.
