UCL Security & Crime Science is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Darrick Jolliffe as the new Head of Department, starting. Professor Jolliffe succeeds Professor Kate Bowers, who served as Head of Department from 2020.
Darrick was Professor of Criminology at Royal Holloway University of London and is co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Developmental and Life-Course Criminology, co-Director of the Cambridge Study in Delinquent Development, Past Chair of Division of Developmental and Life-Course Criminology and Visiting Research Scholar at The Institute of Criminology, Cambridge University and the University of Greenwich.
Previously, Darrick was Professor and Head of the School of Law and Criminology at the University of Greenwich, Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Leicester and Senior Lecturer in Forensic Psychology at London Metropolitan University.
In addition to his roles, Darrick has been funded by various National and International agencies (e.g., Youth Endowment Fund, Early Intervention Foundation, Equality and Human Rights Commission, Ministry of Justice, Home Office, Independent Advisory Panel on Deaths in Custody, NHS, Scottish Risk Management Authority, East Midlands Probation, London Probation Trust, the Swedish National Council on Crime Prevention, National Police Improvement Agency and the Ministries of Justice in Chile, Denmark and Greece) to conduct research and evaluations.
When talking about the appointment, Professor Darrick said:

I am deeply honoured to be taking over as Head of Department, and I will focus all my efforts on maintaining the impressive trajectory established by the current and past leaders of UCL Security and Crime Science’’.
