The input variables’ significance towards metal recovery is computed; optimization analysis is conducted to determine the robust-optimal operating conditions of the input variables for the maximum metal recovery. Finally, the optimized operating conditions are verified on the experimental set-up.

Prof Vivek Dua, Deputy Head (Education) and Director of Undergraduate Studies at UCL Chemical Engineering has been awarded the 2024 Best Paper Award by Resources, Conservation & Recycling Advances (RCRADV) for his outstanding research paper titled “Towards circular economy of wasted printed circuit boards of mobile phones fuelled by machine learning and robust mathematical optimisation framework.”

The award recognises the paper’s high scholarly merit and impact, standing out among 43 papers published in the journal in 2024.
