Celebrating staff
We celebrated 10 years of the Integrated Engineering Programme in April with a Faculty event for staff at Senate House, and hosted the first CEE Education Awards in October, recognising achievement across the Faculty’s staff, PGTAs and students.

Widening participation & STEM education engagement
The UCL Engineering Foundation Year welcomed its second, larger cohort in September 2024. A gift from long-term UCL partner Avanade is providing 30 bursaries over 3 years to students on the programme. Plus, the UCL Ocean Health Challenge launched in Autumn 2024 - a national engineering design challenge for secondary school and college students, co-led by our IEP's Fiona Truscott.

Research in engineering education
UCL had 30 papers and workshops at this year’s annual SEFI Conference. Earlier this year, our report on teaching sustainability in engineering education was published as part of RAENG's Engineers 2030 engineering policy project.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
We're always looking at how to embed inclusive practice into the curriculum and student experience; IEP Senior Teaching & Learning Administrator Molly Lavender-Rose was recognised for her report looking into experiences of students with neurodivergent, physical, and mental health conditions.

Global host
In May, we hosted the SEFI PhD Summer School welcoming students from Europe and beyond to a residential exploring their EER PhD journeys. In June, the first Integrated Engineering Education International Symposium welcomed leaders in the community to London to share best practice and challenges.

Celebrating achievement
In February we hosted Abel Nyamapfene’s Professorial Inaugural lecture on engineering education, and the IEP team were shortlisted for ‘University Engineering Team of the Year’ at the annual Engineering Talent Awards in September.
