A research paper led by Dr Zhijie Xu from our Electronic Materials and Devices research group was recently accepted in the IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics' special issue on Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation. The paper entitled Performance Metrics and Loss Mechanisms in Horticulture Luminescent Solar Concentrators showcases pioneering work on advanced optical films designed to enhance crop yields and promote more sustainable agricultural practices.
Recognising the significance of this research, the IEEE Journal has selected the article for wider dissemination and produced a feature video, now available online here. The work builds on foundational research undertaken in our laboratories and directly supports our broader initiatives under the recent Grand Challenges grant, in collaboration with Professor Gail Taylor, which focuses on scaling up this technology for greenhouse applications.
We are delighted to see Dr Xu’s contributions recognised in this way and look forward to seeing the impact of this innovative work on sustainable farming practices.
