Naveen’s Journey to London
Before joining the MSc programme last year, Naveen worked at Vodafone Idea Limited in India as an Associate in Transport Operations, specialising in IP/Optics Networks and the performance management and deployment of WAN and DWDM links. With a solid foundation in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Anna University, Naveen sought to further his career by combining business acumen with technical expertise, particularly in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry.
"I chose this course to advance my career with both business and technical learnings and upskilling focused on the ICT industry."

Naveen said he appreciates the rich tapestry of cultures that London offers, where every neighborhood seems to bring a different piece of the world to life. From the vibrant streets of East London to the historic charm of Covent Garden, he said there are endless opportunities to explore and learn. The city's diverse population means there is always a new perspective to encounter and a different story to hear, enriching his understanding of the world.
Naveen was keen to point out the friendly atmosphere in EEE. He has valued EEE’s robust academic environment and the extensive support provided to students.

Career Opportunities and Support at UCL
The career opportunities and networking opportunities while studying for his MSc have stood out. He recalled attending the Telecommunications with Business alumni event where he was able to meet past and present students who were all keen to share LinkedIn details.
"I’ve received full support from the UCL career services team. They have assisted me in writing my resume, cover letters, and building my LinkedIn profile. All of this has helped me secure interviews with top telecom and IT companies.
Keen to share tips, Naveen says that making use of the wider UCL network has been very helpful. Naveen says that when he’s browsing LinkedIn profiles of people who work in the top tier at technology companies, you’ll notice that many are graduates of UCL.
Connecting with UCL alumni can be beneficial; you can discuss future opportunities, get referrals, and effectively network to find relevant job prospects.
Future Aspirations
Looking ahead, Naveen is confident about securing a senior leadership role, managing a team in a large corporation.
I would like to see myself in a position where I will lead a team to solve business problems in the ICT industry. This sector currently faces numerous challenges, including boosting revenue, implementing automation, integrating cloud technology, and maximising 5G monetisation. I will be trained to positively impact both business and customer outcomes.
Advice for Prospective Students
For those considering applying to the Electronic and Electrical Engineering department at UCL, Naveen advises clear goal setting.
Be clear with your vision and what you want to get out of it while choosing courses in the EEE department. Everything will fall into place with the amount of support and academic reputation UCL EEE department has.
The ICT industry has many challenges to tackle. If you're truly interested in ICT, this is the ideal place to gain exposure to industry problems and become a problem solver. Plus, being in London with its vibrant life and strong brand presence can help you secure a great job.
