Naveen Veludevan: Pursuing an MSc in Telecommunications with Business at UCL

Naveen’s Journey to London

Before joining the MSc programme last year, Naveen worked at Vodafone Idea Limited in India as an Associate in Transport Operations, specialising in IP/Optics Networks and the performance management and deployment of WAN and DWDM links. With a solid foundation in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Anna University, Naveen sought to further his career by combining business acumen with technical expertise, particularly in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry.

A Global Perspective 

As an international student, Naveen describes his environment as a hub of academic excellence, renowned for its brand and cultural diversity. "Academic excellence, brand and cultural diversity” is how he succinctly sums up his experience at UCL.

Naveen said he appreciates the rich tapestry of cultures that London offers, where every neighborhood seems to bring a different piece of the world to life. From the vibrant streets of East London to the historic charm of Covent Garden, he said there are endless opportunities to explore and learn. The city's diverse population means there is always a new perspective to encounter and a different story to hear, enriching his understanding of the world.

Naveen was keen to point out the friendly atmosphere in EEE. He has valued EEE’s robust academic environment and the extensive support provided to students.

Career Opportunities and Support at UCL

The career opportunities and networking opportunities while studying for his MSc have stood out. He recalled attending the Telecommunications with Business alumni event where he was able to meet past and present students who were all keen to share LinkedIn details.

Keen to share tips, Naveen says that making use of the wider UCL network has been very helpful. Naveen says that when he’s browsing LinkedIn profiles of people who work in the top tier at technology companies, you’ll notice that many are graduates of UCL.

Future Aspirations

Looking ahead, Naveen is confident about securing a senior leadership role, managing a team in a large corporation.
