Double fellowship joy for Dr Mehran Moazen

Dr Mehran Moazen, currently Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at UCL Mechanical Engineering, has been recognised by the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IMechE) through his recent appointment as a Fellow of the Institute. 

Dr Moazen is also celebrating another fellowship award – an EPSRC Open Fellowship for his multidisciplinary project known as CranioMech. CranioMech aims to address the current lack of knowledge in treatments of craniofacial conditions mostly affecting children. Craniosynostosis (CS), an increasingly common condition affecting the skull growth of infants, has seen a rise in cases across Europe over the past 30 years. Dr Moazen’s project will utilise a combination of advanced approaches in order to develop a revolutionary treatment for CS and attempt to resolve the unknown mechanobiology.

The project has been awarded a grant of over £1.5 million and begins this month.
