On 7 November the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE) celebrated the tenth anniversary of the MSc Telecoms with Business (TwB) programme, hosting a reception at University College London (UCL).
The event was attended by current students, alumni, departmental and faculty staff and featured guest speakers and external lecturers that have been a part of the programme over the years.
Speeches were delivered by Dr Clive Poole (Course Director), Prof. Andy Valdar and Ian Morfett (Founders of the programme) and Prof. Izzat Darwazeh, who delivered a (pre-recorded) speech. Two of the programme’s alumni discussed how they had benefitted from the course along with an update on what they do now; this was followed by a walk down memory lane as they recollected some fond moments from their time at EEE and UCL.
During the reception, Vicky Coombes, the Professional Services staff who had overseen the administration of the programme across the ten years, was also presented with a bouquet of flowers for her dedicated support.
Course Director, Dr Clive Poole, stated:
It was a great pleasure to be able to celebrate 10 years of the UCL Telecommunications with Business MSc programme. TwB is a unique programme that aims to take students with an engineering background and equip them with the tools to grow thrive in commercial and managerial roles within a technical organization. We have many successful examples of alumni who have made this transition in their careers with the help of what they have learned at UCL. Since 2010, the TwB programme has graduated over 160 students from 40 countries all over the world. It was a great pleasure to see some of them joining us to celebrate and to hear their stories. It was also an opportunity for us to thank all the UCL academic staff and our distinguished visiting lecturers and speakers who have all contributed to making TwB such a success over the past decade.
The Telecommunications with Business MSc is a market leading programme addressing the need for more highly skilled technical managers in the ICT and telecommunications industry that have a broad knowledge across both technology and business.
The programme was created to enhance the technical skills base that is required to meet the dynamic challenges of today's industry, empowering both recent graduates and professionals with industry experience to rapidly develop their careers.
