Three papers authored by staff and students in the UCL Department of Computer Science have been selected as finalists for the European Cyber Security Awareness Week Applied Research Awards (CSAW-Europe).

The selection process considered more than 100 papers authored by European institutions over the past year in the area of computer security and selected the best 10.

The papers selected were:

  1. ”What Happens After You Are Pwnd: Understanding The Use of Leaked Webmail Credentials In The Wild” authored by PhD students Jeremiah Onaolapo and Enrico Mariconti and by Dr Gianluca Stringhini
  2. ”MaMaDroid: Detecting Android Malware by Building Markov Chains of Behavioral Models” authored by PhD students Enrico Mariconti and Lucky Onwuzurike and by Dr Emiliano De Cristofaro and Dr Stringhini, and
  3. ”TriFlow: A tool for triaging Android apps, and, also, prioritizing their analysis using speculative information flows” authored by visiting PhD student Omid Mirzaei and by Dr Guillermo Suarez-Tangil.

The final selection will take place on November 9-11 2017 in Grenoble, France, where the finalists will be judged by a panel of international experts.
