MSc in Global Management of Natural Resources students visit the Jurassic Coast, Dorset

Last week (6th - 10th November), 20 students from the MSc in Global Management of Natural Resources at UCL spent a week on the Jurassic Coast of Dorset. The students examined a range of rock types and structures that make up the source, reservoir and seal rocks of petroleum plays in this classical setting. The program was put together to allow the students, many of whom were engaging in fieldwork for the first time, to contextualise how hydrocarbons generated at depth in organic rich mudstones can migrate and be stored for later extraction.

The students had fantastic weather, allowing them to maximise the opportunity, ask questions at any level and become comfortable in their understanding of how these complex systems work. They also had a great time getting to know each other during their weeks stay in Weymouth!
