Students have become very familiar with the phrase and an idea of conservation, but how do you incorporate sustainability throughout an Engineering Curriculum?
At UCL'S Department of Chemical Engineering in connection with the Faculty of Engineering's IEP programme, we aim to capture the importance of stakeholder concerns while satisfying the technical assessment of sustainability topics.
On 19 June 2017, Senior Teaching Fellow Cicely Striolo, MSc, CEng, FHEA, IPMA, presented a webinar and slides to IChemE Sustainability and Education Special Interest Groups.
The webinar was aimed at Higher Education Instructors who are interested in implementing a technically based sustainability thread into their taught curriculum. Specifically considering subjects such as stakeholder management, and solving problems for both communities that are not as logistically or digitally connected to modern infrastructures, and established and growing cities. The webinar also addressed more traditionally based Chemical Engineering Design projects that must consider Environmental impact in production plant design.
