We are delighted to announce that Professor Yvonne Rogers has been named one of the 2017 Fellows of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM).

Yvonne, who is Professor of Interaction Design and Director of UCL Interaction Centre(UCLIC), receives this recognition for her outstanding contributions to human-computer interaction and the design of human-centred technology.

“Yvonne’s selection as an ACM Fellow is further testimony to her achievements in the field. A wonderful colleague and leader, she has demonstrated brilliance in her work and in its application to change our world for the better. I am just delighted to see her work properly recognised”, commented Professor Nigel Titchener-Hooker, Dean of UCL Engineering.

Yvonne has been instrumental in promulgating new theories, alternative methodologies and far-reaching research agendas in her field.

A central theme of her research is the design of interactive technologies that can enhance life by augmenting and extending everyday learning and work activities. This involves informing, creating and evaluating novel user experiences through the design and implementation of diverse technologies.

The prestigious ACM Fellows Program, initiated in 1993, celebrates the pioneering work of leading members in the computing field. These individuals have helped to enlighten researchers, developers, practitioners and end users of information technology throughout the world. Their achievements are viewed as playing a crucial role in the global economy, as well as how we live and work every day.

Underscoring ACM’s global reach, the 54 2017 Fellows hail from universities, companies and research centres in Canada, China, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.

“This is an incredible achievement for me”, said Yvonne. “It is one of the highest accolades in my field. Since the public announcement, I have received many lovely and heartfelt emails from colleagues all over the world congratulating me on receiving the ACM Fellow award. I am quite simply chuffed to bits and very proud.”

Please join us in congratulating Yvonne on this exceptional achievement.

You can find the full list of 2017 Fellows on the ACM website.
