Professor Tony Kenyon, Vice-Dean of Research for the Faculty of Engineering, comments:The UCL Institute of Healthcare Engineering has appointed four engineering leads to its current Flagship Programmes. The holders of these prominent positions will contribute significantly to the impact of UCL’s world-class research within the healthcare engineering domain. We're very pleased to report that Biochemical Engineering's Dr Ivan Wall was one of the first Engineering leads to be formally appointed.

Professor Tony Kenyon, Vice-Dean of Research for the Faculty of Engineering, comments: "I’m delighted that we have been able to make some outstanding appointments as academic Theme Leads for the Institute of Healthcare Engineering. Strengthening our links with UCL’s clinical partners to directly address real clinical needs is an exciting research priority for the Faculty, and appointing Theme Leads is an important step to realising our ambition.”

Professor Gary Lye, Head of The Department of Biochemical Engineering, said: "It is great to see Biochemical Engineering staff take the lead in these important multi-disciplinary areas. The Hear Again theme brings together some really exciting work covering stem cell biology, gene therapy and imaging techniques to help patients with hearing difficulties. Biochemical Engineers have a key role to play here in defining reproducible and cost-effective ways of producing the cells required for therapies to be effective.”

The Institute of Healthcare Engineering would like to thank all members of the working groups who contributed to setting up the Institute for their dedication and hard work and we wish them all the best with their work.
