The Institute of Healthcare Engineering Translation and Industry Delivery Group exists to identify opportunities and to help enable the translation of engineering innovations from UCL’s many engineering research groups into the health and care sectors.
We represent a broad range of expertise including engineers, clinicians, and technology transfer experts, allowing us to identify opportunities for engineering intervention in hospitals and in communities.

What we do
- We have close ties with the UCL Therapeutic Innovation Network in Devices & Diagnostics and UCL’s Translational Research Office.
- Our short and medium-term objectives are to address the challenges of translational research at UCL and its partner hospitals and identify opportunities to translating new technologies into healthcare, often in partnership with industry.
- In the longer term, we plan to support the creation of one or more internationally-recognised centres of excellence at UCL with a translational healthcare emphasis.
