Alessandro Rossi

Hi, I am Alessandro and I am a PhD student interested in finding new fabrication routes of gratings to use in X-Ray Phase Contrast Imaging, so to ultimately improve the sensitivity of conventional X-ray imaging.

Anestis Koulogiannis 

I am a PhD student at the department of Mechanical Engineering at UCL. My research is focused on the experimental study of ultrasound induced flows for healthcare applications. The aim of my project is to provide a physics-based approach to the design of targeted drug delivery systems by characterising the flows generated by ultrasounds in fluidic systems mimicking dental cavities. Prior to joining UCL, I studied in École des Ponts ParisTech and the National Technical University of Athens.  

Chloe He

I am a PhD student at UCL and Apricity. My work focuses on applications of artificial intelligence to reproductive medicine, the development of at-home reproductive health diagnostics and LGBTQ+ fertility care. 

Elizabeth Levitis

Emily Kostina

I am a LiDO PhD student. Using single cell barcoding methods and machine learning I am trying to identify the first heart progenitor cell to better understand early heart development. This research could improve the current knowledge of congenital heart defects and inform future gene therapies.  

Emmeline Brown

I am a PhD student at UCL Centre for Computational Medicine and Moorfields Eye Hospital. My research focusses on the use of deep learning and synthetic data for automated analysis of retinal images, with the aim to develop pipelines with clinical applicability in monitoring disease states. I previously worked in genomic data analysis of Parkinson's disease. I am interested in software and methods development with translational potential for improving patient care. 

François Sicard

I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering at the Department of Arts and Science (UASc) and Principal Investigator at the Thomas Young Centre (TYC). My current research focuses on the computer-assisted design of biohybrid nanomaterials using the tools of computational physics and machine learning. I am also interested in exploring the potential of a participatory, co-constructed approach to the computer-assisted design of new healthcare nanotechnologies to improve the integrated understanding of illness. 

Gabrielle Baxter

I’m a Research Fellow in the Centre for Medical Image Computing working with Dr Joseph Jacob on using computer tools to quantify lung damage. I work in lung fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, and lung cancer screening cohorts to determine imaging characteristics that predict disease progression. Before joining UCL, I was a PhD student and postdoc in the department of Radiology at the University of Cambridge investigating functional breast cancer MRI.

I am a PhD student in the UCL Centre for Computational Medicine under the supervision of Prof Simon Walker-Samuel. As I am part of the international Alliance for Cancer Early Detection (ACED), I am also co-supervised by Prof Parag Mallick at Stanford University. My research aims to uncover how the order of mutations impacts cancer evolution.

Maxime Berg

I am a Research Fellow at the Centre for Nerve Engineering where I am developping mathematical models to answer healthcare challenges. Specifically, I aim to investigate the potential of emerging strategies to improve peripheral nerve repair, but the transverse nature of the interdisciplinary tools I develop has wider application, Including diabetic retinopathy, cancer development and the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.

Mazna Almatroudi

I am a PhD students in the department of Pharmaceutics at the UCL School of pharmacy. My research interests are in the development of controlled release parenteral formulations for therapeutic peptides. 

Noora Almarri

I'm a Bioelectronics PhD student specialising in designing heartbeat-powered diagnostic implantable medical devices for cardiovascular disease solutions. Drawing from a background in space research and fiction playwriting, my journey seamlessly weaves together innovation, healthcare, and a touch of creative storytelling. 

Razvan Caramalau

I am a Research Fellow at Wellcome/EPSRC Centre for Interventional and Surgical Sciences (WEISS), Surgical Robot Vision Group, UCL. I work on endoscopic data within the Endomapper project. I have strong interest and passion of how deep learning and active learning can shape the medical vision applications. The proposed algorithms can enhance the colonoscopies ran by clinicians while reducing the missed polyps and future patient visits. 

Roxana Ramirez Herrera  

Sarah Imdad

I'm a PhD student in the Department of Clinical and Movement Neurosciences, focusing on XR motion tracking and ML for stroke rehabilitation. My previous initiatives to raise awareness about the rights of disabled individuals in Pakistan and designing a stroke rehabilitation glove motivate my dedication to impactful projects. These experiences have fueled my desire to continue working on projects that benefit stroke survivors. 

Zainab Rai

I'm Dr. Zainab Rai, an aspiring surgeon specialising in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) and transplant surgery. My research is dedicated to exploring the frontiers of pancreatic cancer treatment, specifically focusing on Irreversible Electroporation – a promising approach that has the potential to transform patient care. My ambition, however, extends beyond the operating room; I am deeply passionate about bridging the gap between ground-breaking research and clinical application. My goal is to ensure that the latest scientific advancements are seamlessly integrated into patient care, offering hope and improved outcomes for my patients.
