Designing and Delivering High-Impact Project-based Learning in STEM Programmes (Short course)
Consider how project-based learning can be designed, supported and assessed effectively within different STEM teaching contexts. Part of our summer short course series.
Course overview
This two-day course draws on lessons from UCL’s Integrated Engineering Programme to help participants design and deliver high-impact Project-Based Learning in STEM. It is designed for those involved in teaching, module or programme design, or student learning enhancement in STEM higher education. Participants will explore how PjBL can be aligned with learning outcomes, embedded within wider skill development, and implemented sustainably at scale. They will leave with a clearer understanding of effective PjBL, a context-specific implementation blueprint and practical next steps.
Subject to availability, registration will close on Wednesday 17th June.
Who should attend?
This course is designed for:
- Those seeking to embed or strengthen project-based learning within STEM modules or programmes.
- Those involved in teaching, curriculum design, or student learning enhancement in STEM higher education.
What participants will gain
Participants will leave with:
- A stronger understanding of effective PjBL in STEM higher education.
- The ability to design PjBL at classroom and programme level; designing briefs, and working with external partners.
- Greater confidence in facilitating teamwork, uncertainty, and deep learning.
- Practical approaches to assessment in AI-rich contexts.
- A structured plan for implementation or scale-up within their own setting.
