UCL Computer Science Black History Month Celebration Re:Claiming Narratives
Amplifying the voices of Black Computer Scientists.

In line with this year's UK Black History Month theme, the UCL Computer Science Race Equality Working Group will be hosting its fourth Black History Month celebration with an evening amplifying the voices of Black Computer Scientists.
The in-person evening will include a fun ice breaker, a talk from Dr Temitayo Olugbade, Lecturer in Computer Science & AI, University of Sussex; Honorary Research Fellow, University College London, followed by a panel discussion with the following members:
- Daniel Grant, Engineering Manager at YouView TV
- Hope Oloye, Founder of organisation Thinking Black
- Lucky Onwuzurike, Cybersecurity Consultant Manager at EY
- Morgane Ohlig, UCL Computer Science MEng Student
Panel Chairs:
- Shakirah Akinwale, Centre Director at UCL Centre for Sustainability and RealTech Innovation, powered by PGIM Real Estate
- Morenike Magbagbeola, UCL Post Graduate Researcher, Robot Engineer at an Energy Company
Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and network after the talks during the social with delicious Caribbean food.
Online event from 5.30pm: The keynote speaker talk and panel discussion will be streamed online - please choose the appropriate ticket when registering for this event.
