Please join us at 4pm on 29 Sept for a 45 min fun fact “did you know that” tour across UCL meeting in front of the Portico in The Quad.
UCL is nearly 200 years old and its history is ... well ... it's interesting! Our university was created out of a desire to do things differently and it's certainly been an exciting journey to get here.
We'll talk about crotchety social heroes, duels to the death, the first circle line in the world, our unique architecture, creative accountancy, heating systems, artists, Nobel prize winners and mattresses. Why do we have a cadaver on display in the Student Centre? Why is the portico a scaled-down copy of the National Gallery? Why did the Luftwaffe blow up the largest collection of German literature outside Germany? Will we have time enough in the tour to cover all this? Who knows.
Make sure you bring a coat/umbrella on the day - don't underestimate the great British weather!
