The UCL-Pall Centre of Excellence Annual Lecture
Design of separation materials for biological products inspired by advanced imaging featuring speaker Dr Thomas Johnson and chaired by Professor Dan Bracewell

High-resolution 3D imaging, in particular X-ray computed tomography, focused ion beam microscopy and confocal laser scanning microscopy, has been applied to visualise and characterise the internal structure of bioprocessing materials vital to advanced therapeutics manufacturing. This has enabled measurement and flow-based simulation on digital representations of multi-length scale filters and chromatography geometries, directly relating structure to function and performance. Knowledge generation through collaborative imaging studies presents the opportunity to design and fabricate the next generation of smart biomanufacturing materials that directly aligns with the vision of the Manufacturing Futures Lab at UCL East.
