Spring Into STEM | AI-mimicry & asset management algorithms for wind power | Virtual Lecture Series

Wind power assets are now centre stage, both in the long-standing fight against climate change, but also in the more recent imperative to increase security of supply.

Investments in wind power, however, remain fraught with risk, with ironically lower power prices associated with increased wind installations and wind speeds. Meanwhile traditional asset management approaches fail to release full asset values and lead to a lack in resilience to key market downsides.

In this lightning lecture (15 minutes talk, 15 minutes Q&A), we present novel management algorithms, inspired by recent advances in AI, tailored to increase asset life and NPV. Numerical simulations of field applications are shown, and advantages including real optionality of evolving algorithms are discussed.

Lecture is open to all - including members of the public - with an interest in topics like climate change, sustainability et al.
