Dale Lane, author of Machine Learning for Kids, presents a CPD (Continuing Professional Development) session for teachers and anyone interested in teaching children ML.
In this free event, Dale will explain how Machine Learning can be taught in schools. Dale will use some of the practical teaching activities from his website: https://machinelearningforkids.co.uk/
We will consider how we can build Machine Learning into the experiences we offer children and young people. How does a machine learning algorithm learn things? How can primary and secondary aged pupils understand Machine Learning and recognise how it impacts on their world?
The session will include a hands-on opportunity to use free online resources that can be included in learning experiences. Attendees can create an account on the IBM Cloud to host their Machine Learning projects and the projects for their classes.
This course is suitable for both primary and secondary school teachers who would like to learn about machine learning with a view to teaching pupils between the ages of 11 – 16. The programming in the course is done using the Scratch programming language.
