UCL Chemical Engineering Taster lecture: Redox flow batteries for grid-scale energy storage

Abstract:
In this lecture, Dr Rhodri Jervis will introduce the redox flow battery as an alternative technology for the storage of large amounts of electricity at the grid scale and discuss some of the challenges hindering their commercial development. The cutting edge research in this area currently undertaken in the EIL at UCL Chemical Engineering will be briefly highlighted, showing that RFBs have the potential to provide long-term and large scale energy storage to electricity grids in a safe and sustainable way.
Presented by:
Dr Rhodri Jervis, Lecturer in Chemical Engineering in the UCL Electrochemical Innovations Lab (EIL)
