14th International Crime Science Conference
Data and crime: the new crime-fighting frontier
Data is now being lauded as a panacea for many of the world’s problems including crime and security. But what does this data look like, where does it come from, and how do we harness its potential in the fight to reduce crime? This year's conference theme is data science and how it is impacting on the law enforcement and security arenas. As criminals seek to exploit data to develop new forms of criminality and evolve existing crimes, law enforcement must understand, anticipate and respond. This conference seeks to demystify data and present current research and activity at this new frontier in crime reduction.
The conference will include sessions on cybercrime; AI-enabled criminality; AI and explainability; terrorism; digital forensics; the crime potential of IoT devices; cryptocurrency fraud; Smart sensors to combat domestic abuse; counterfeit medicines; and police supply and demand on issues such as mental health. As ever the conference will bring together law enforcement practitioners, policy-makers, private industry, and researchers presenting some of the latest evidence-based research in this area, including an analysis of case studies.
