Thanks to the diversity of research we carry out in the department, we offer research courses and PhDs over a very wide range of topics in Electronic Engineering, from nanotechnology and materials research, to circuits and systems, radar, communications, photonics and optical networks, and large-scale networks.

The programmes we offer are:

  • MRes Telecommunications
  • MRes Photonic and Electronic Systems
  • PhD
  • CDT in Photonic and Electronic Systems
  • CDT in the Advanced Characterisation of Materials

Our department offers an exceptionally vibrant experience for research students. They find that we collaborate widely, both with other departments in UCL, and internationally with leading research groups and industrial partners around the world. This generates a highly stimulating environment that has led to brilliant careers for most of our graduating research students.

Full time and part time options are available depending on the programme. For fuller details follow the links provided.

If you are interested in joining us as a research student, we strongly encourage you to look at our research pages to identify areas of interest to you. Selecting the correct research project is a hugely important first step, so we recommend that you contact potential supervisors directly to discuss possibilities before you apply for a place on our programmes.

If you have any general queries you can contact me. I’ll be very happy to help and advise you.
