'Joining UCL in 2007 as an Electronic and Electrical Engineering undergraduate student, I had the opportunity to explore my interests in the field of engineering. At the end of my second year, I was offered the opportunity to expand my knowledge beyond the undergraduate curriculum by taking a summer studentship within the Optical Networks Group (ONG). This experience was pivotal in my career, as I went on to join the group for postgraduate studies, upon the completion of my BEng in 2010.

Through the CDT Photonics Systems Development MRes/PhD programme I was able to conduct research and make contributions in the field of optical communications. UCL’s ONG is a global leader in this area and I consider myself very lucky to have been able to do my research training as part of this group.

Both at undergraduate and postgraduate level, UCL has a broad selection of subjects and topics, which enable students to gain a solid foundation in the field of engineering and at the same time tailor their education to match their personal interests. The education received at UCL offered me a great start in my career, both initially in academia and, currently, in the industry'.
