Undergraduate teaching at UCL Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (CEGE) embraces the full range of civil engineering, from structural design and soil mechanics to earthquakes, transport, environmental and systems engineering. At the end of our undergraduate degree programmes, you will have the technical ability and understanding to make the world better.
Our civil engineering undergraduate programmes are flexible, so you can build a degree to suit the type of civil engineer you wish to be. With the opportunity to specialise in a range of subjects and disciplines from across UCL Engineering, via the IEP Minor (for both BEng and MEng students), and advanced optional modules in the final year of our MEng programme, you get the exciting chance to customise your studies with us, plus learn with peers from other UCL Engineering departments.

Civil Engineering BEng
Studying Civil Engineering BEng at UCL offers a unique curriculum constructed around a series of multidisciplinary group projects, which focus on real-world engineering problems.

Civil Engineering MEng
UCL's four year Civil Engineering MEng programme includes an innovative final year design project and advanced modules, offering a direct route to Chartered (CEng) Status.

Engineering and Architectural Design MEng
This four year programme combines the key disciplines of structural, environmental and architectural design of the built environment, creating industry leaders of the future.

Science and Engineering for Social Change BSc
This three year BSc equips the next-generation social change leaders with practical knowledge from engineering and physical sciences and a thorough understanding of government and policymaking.

Both our BEng and MEng Civil Engineering programmes are part of the IEP, or Integrated Engineering Programme, teaching framework. Find out more by visiting the IEP webpage.
If you study the Civil Engineering MEng with us, you will have the opportunity to take part in the UCL Study Abroad programme, spending your third year at one of our partner institutions in Asia, Europe, North America or Australia.
Students looking to combine the study of engineering with architecture may be interested in our Engineering and Architectural Design MEng, a four-year integrated Master’s degree, taught in collaboration with The Bartlett School of Architecture and the Institute of Environmental Design and Engineering.
This programme challenges students to develop robust knowledge and experience of architectural, environmental and structural design and engineering in buildings. Please note, The Bartlett School of Architecture is the home department for this programme.
