What is Chemical Engineering?

Chemical engineering is all about changing raw materials into useful products you use everyday in a safe and cost-effective way. Chemical engineers understand how to alter the chemical and/or physical state of a substance to create anything from face creams to fuels.

Chemical engineers are also involved in the design, modification and operation of processes to produce desirable products, and work across a large variety of sectors including: Energy, Environment, Pharmaceuticals, Oil and Gas, Business and management, Nuclear, Food and drink, Chemicals, Healthcare, Materials, Water, Biotechnology, Process Plant and Equipment, Mining and Minerals.

The department offers an impressive national and international network of industrial contacts and has strong collaborative links with other university departments in the UK and abroad.
