ChemEngDayUK 2022

ChemEngDayUK 2022 took place on 7–8 April 2022 at University College London, jointly hosted by UCL's Departments of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering.

The event coincided with the centenary of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and focused on the future contributions of chemical and biochemical engineers to global challenges, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The conference theme topics included:

  • Multi-scale engineering
  • Education and policy
  • Energy
  • Food
  • Healthcare

The conference featured plenary lectures, technical sessions, poster presentations, and workshops. Keynote speakers included Professor Claire Adjiman from Imperial College London, who discussed molecular engineering for improved processes, and Dr Alexander (Sandy) Douglas from the University of Oxford, who shared insights on vaccine manufacturing scalability.

Workshops addressed topics such as project-based learning, equality, diversity and inclusion in engineering education, and career development for early-career researchers. The event also highlighted the achievements of early-career researchers through various awards in categories including Multi-Scale Engineering, Energy, Food, and Education & Policy.
