UCL Electronic and Electrical Engineering is passionate about creating real world impact, with a track record of industry collaboration dating back to 1899, when John Ambrose Fleming became Scientific Advisor to the Marconi Company. Our globally pioneering research is still at the forefront of innovation. We build on our long-established links with industry through collaborative and sponsored research, and industry supervised student projects.
Professor of Optical Networked Systems, George Zervas is currently leading a team of researchers working on optical network systems for cloud network systems and high-performance computing. The team are working with a global leader in optical switching technology, Polatis to develop novel learning methods to improve the performance and manufacturing processes of an optical switch.
“Working with UCL has helped us to become aware of techniques that we otherwise wouldn’t know about and certainly not have the time ourselves and a relatively limited engineering team to become expert in” said Nick Parsons, VP Technology at HUBER+SUHNER Polatis.
