  • Teaching & learning support for MSc programmes

Filippo Cunsolo

Responsibilities

  • Departmental Reception duties and first point of contact in the Departmental Office.
  • Responsible for post and parcel distribution and sending of courier packages.
  • Responsible for booking catering and rooms for Departmental events and meetings.
  • Manages reported departmental defects.
  • Responsible for arranging departmental printing, including Undergraduate lectures notes.
  • Monitoring and replenishing stock levels of stationery, paper, tea, coffee etc.

  • Providing support to students and staff in all areas of programme administration for both UG & PG programmes, including: Student records and enquiries, examinations and assessments.

  • Manages the administration of the Departmental Undergraduate programmes
  • Provides support for the Undergraduate application and induction process
  • Coordinator for Undergraduate assessment and exam boards

Responsibilities

  • Administrator for Postgraduate Research.  Dealing with enquiries, processing applications, managing student records
  • Administrator for CDT in Integrated Photonic and Electronic Systems (IPES) and the CDT in Connected Electronic and Photonics Systems (CEPS). Dealing with enquiries, processing applications, managing student records
  • Processing payroll payments for students involving checking right to work documentation

  • Executive administration for the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Integrated  Photonic & Electronic Systems (IPES) and the EPSRC CDT in Connected Electronic and Photonics Systems (CEPS).

  • Day-to-day administration of the research programme and institute, including the organisation of events, meetings and outreach activities.
  • Communication and promotion of the scientific research results, achievements, and impact of the programme and institute.
  • Content Manager for the TRANSNET website and ONG webpages.

  • Programme administration for the entire lifecycle of MSc students (including admissions, induction, module selection, teaching committees, exams and awards).

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the HR functions of the department, including placing adverts, arranging shortlisting and interview panels.
  • Responsible for the appraisal and probation process for academic staff.
  • Processing PGTA and Peer Tutor timesheets.

 

 

 


Dr Robert Thompson

Responsibilities

Rob leads the development of EEE’s strategy in relation to Industry and Enterprise, this includes:

  • Developing opportunities and structures for external partners to engage with the department.
  • Raising the prominence and benefit of University-External Partner engagement both internally and within National, EU and International arenas.
  • Supporting the development of Strategic Relationships.
  • Working with academics to deliver industry focused activities, workshops and exploratory projects.
  • Ensuring the department remains up-to-date with industries’ priorities that pertain to departmental activities across research and teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Provides the department’s Strategic Alliances Director with high-level administrative support for managing the engagement of staff at all levels with the department’s industry partners
  • Manages a variety of corporate and public sector relationships ranging from start-ups to global corporations; building on current relations and forging new links

  • Developing, delivering and reviewing the department's internal and external communications strategy.
  • Leading on the development, deliverance and evaluation of a marketing programme for the department.

  •  To manage a range of instruments in the EEE department’s nanotechnology teaching laboratory.
  • To provide technical and safety support to research projects requiring the nanotechnology facilities.
  • To assist MSc project activities and the running of laboratory classes for MSc students.
  • To implement and enforce an equipment training regime and safety induction process for all laboratory users
  • Equipment planning and budgeting and raising infrastructure requirements

Tom Hamer

  • Assist with the design of precision parts using latest Cad modelling technology
  • Manufacture of items using Latest CNC technology to a high  precision in a variety of materials
  • Assist with the design and manufacture of 3D printable items for students and academics for teaching and research (from late 2019)
  • Assist the department with any minor issues with the Infrastructure of labs and offices
  • Liaise with other departments that may require our assistance with design and manufacture of research equipment

  • Supports the Head of Department & the Technical Services Manager in ensuring that both Departmental and UCL Health and Safety policies and procedures are implemented and adhered-to.
  • First point of contact regarding safety issues within the Department. Provide safety advice on procedures and equipment for academic, technical, research staff and students.

Steve Hudziak

  • Leads a new team within the department’s technical group, working in our research laboratories and postgraduate teaching facilities.
  • Responsible for managing shared department research facilities and ensuring these are run effectively and efficiently. 
  • Acts as experimental officer for some our key shared research equipment.
  • Offers support and advise to the technical services manager in standardising safety and lab management processes across all research areas in the department.

  • Manufacture of through hole plated Printed Circuited Boards, multi-layer PCBs (4-6 layers) and flexible circuits.
  • Lasered  RF-boards using our LPKF U3 laser (sub 100 micron features)
  • Lasered solder paste masks for solder screen printing.
  • Electronic component assembly techniques.
  • Maintenance and support for all PCB equipment and chemical processes.
