Back by popular demand - Join Professor Ioannis Papakonstantinou as he discusses the research being conducted by his group in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE) to tackle climate change and create sustainable buildings.

The latest forecasts for the CO2 emissions of the built environment portrays a gloomy picture. It is anticipated that those emissions will reach 15.2 Gt in 2050, double their 2007 levels.

At the same time, buildings consume 40% of the world’s primary energy with heating and cooling alone accounting for 63% of the energy spent indoors. To meet the global target for carbon neutrality, it is imperative for the emissions and energy consumption from the built environment to be curtailed.

In this lightning, quickfire talk, Professor Ioannis Papakonstantinou will discuss the latest developments in his group on smart glazing, building integrated photovoltaics and nanotechnologies that are helping to create energy efficient and sustainable buildings.
