UCL Educational Psychology Group: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

The mission of the Educational Psychology Group is to embrace diversity, equity and inclusive practice across all aspects of professional training. Tutors and trainees recognise the need to show awareness, sensitivity and an ethical commitment to ensuring equitable and inclusive practice and to respond as appropriate. In order to do this, we will:

  • Encourage recruitment of trainees and tutors with diverse backgrounds.
  • Commit to maintaining a culture across the group which promotes respect, equity, inclusion and belonging for all
  • Commit to conducting research that generates new knowledge reflecting a diverse society.
  • Ensure the integration of equity, diversity and inclusion into all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Encourage and facilitate trainees to seek out placement experiences with diverse populations.
  • Develop Educational and Child Psychology events for external audiences that address equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Implement the UCL Equity and Inclusion Plan and updated UCL strategies as they are published.
  • Ensure the Educational Psychology Group Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy Group, including tutor, trainee and alumni representatives, steers our work in this area.

The UCL Educational Psychology Group shares the British Psychological Society’s commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, as outlined in the BPS Strategic Framework (June 2021-December 2022): https://www.bps.org.uk/diversity-and-inclusion .
