This series of briefing notes invites readers to consider whether education has yet settled on the most productive ways for policymakers, researchers and other stakeholders in education to interact.
Knowledge Exchange in Education
One of the aims of the ESRC Education Research Programme is to review the terms under which research, policy and practice interact in the 4 nations of the UK.
Projects exploring the programme’s two themes are aware that their findings have the potential to shape policy decisions on where to invest in education; or suggest key changes in the school environment that might benefit pupils and teachers’ working lives. But translating research findings into actionable insights is seldom straightforward.
The ERP briefing notes, Knowledge Exchange in Education, will tackle some of the issues that arise as research speaks to policy and to practice; and policy and practice speak back to research.
We welcome further contributions debating the strengths and weaknesses of current approaches to knowledge exchange.
