At UCL Eastman, we offer three types of research degree in dentistry: a professional doctorate (DDent) award, a three-year MPhil/PhD, and a four-year clinical experience PhD.
We are a world-leading academic centre for postgraduate dentistry and translational research based in London. Much of our research is focused upon preventing, diagnosing and treating common oral disorders such as childhood dental decay, gum disease in adults or oral cancer. Our students and staff are also engaged in research that is expected to have a wider impact on collective public health, such as antibiotic resistance and bone repair.
Entry requirements
- All applicants must meet UCL's general entry requirements for MPhil/PhD.
- Any applicant who is not a national of a UK Home Office majority English-speaking country is required to provide recent (within two years of the programme start date) evidence of English language proficiency. See our English language requirements.
How to apply
If you are not applying for an advertised studentship, we encourage you to send an informal research enquiry to edi-phd@ucl.ac.uk. This helps to define your interests and to make your application successful. It also helps us to identify the best supervisor for your needs.
Some applicants choose to submit their own research proposal. If you wish to do so, you must first identify a suitable supervisor with the correct expertise. If you are unsure, please contact edi-phd@ucl.ac.uk.
DDent applicants can apply online via the prospectus.
