Year One

Science and Properties of Dental Composites and Ceramics
30 credits
Topics included are: Diagnostics and Smile Evaluation for the Patient of High Aesthetic Demands, Dental Photography, Clinical Records and Occlusion, Aesthetic Mock-Ups, Anterior and Posterior Direct Composite Restorations, All-Ceramic Veneers, Crowns, Inlays, Onlays, CAD/CAM Ceramic Restorations, Aesthetic Metal Ceramic Crowns and Bridges,  Aesthetic Temporaries, Impressions and Tissue Management.

Assessed through a 2500-word essay and an MCQ 50-question written exam.

Interdisciplinary Clinical Dental Aesthetics
30 credits
Topics included are: Tooth Whitening and Management of Tooth Sensitivity, Management of Tooth Wear, Elements of Full-Mouth Reconstruction, Aesthetic Complications, Restorations for Endodontically Treated Teeth, Aesthetic and complex interdisciplinary treatment planning, incorporation of orthodontic and periodontal surgery elements.

Assessed through an MCQ 50-question written exam and a clinical case presentation (of a patient case treated by the student in their own practice).
