Professor Ian Needleman wins award for outstanding public engagement

This important award reflects Ian’s leadership and industry in many aspects of public engagement allied to oral health.

His work has many facets and includes increasing understanding of the cause, effect, treatment and prevention of periodontitis as well as working with many sport organisations (including the International Olympic Committee IOC) to enhance the oral health of athletes at all levels.

He recently completed a large study of Premier League and Championship footballers and is also the President of the British Society of Periodontology for 2017.

As noted in his citation ‘Ian’s consistent championing of public engagement makes him a truly powerful advocate for public engagement and a more than worthy winner of this award’.
