The Micropalaeontology Laboratories

Location

Laboratory Manager: Prof Bridget Wade

The UCL Micropalaeontology facility specializes in calcareous microfossils such foraminifera, siliceous fossils such as radiolarians and diatoms and microfossil processing and extraction. These include sample preparation facilities (a wet lab and fume hood for sample washing and acid digestion) and an extensive micropalaeontological reference library.

The laboratory collaborates with industry and number of universities worldwide. We have a particularly strong research link with the Palaeontology Department at the Natural History Museum in London. Collaborators may work individually or supported by laboratory staff on a cost-sharing basis.
