“Waveform modelling of global seismic anisotropy and geodynamical implications.”

PhD project title:

Waveform modelling of global seismic anisotropy and geodynamical implications.

Project description:

The mechanisms of seismic anisotropy in the Earth’s mantle are still not fully understood. The aim of my project is study upper mantle (including lithosphere-asthenosphere region) anisotropy by forward waveform modelling of surface waves. I will use as a starting model SGLOBE-rani to simulate wave propagation using the spectral element method and compare with observed seismic waveforms. Ultimately, I will look into refining SGLOBE-rani from the waveform analysis, and to carry out some geodynamical modelling/interpretation.
