Sir David Wilson Lecture 24 October 2018

Michael Wood launched the 2018/19 IoA-BM Medieval Seminar Series on 24th October with a fascinating talk about Æthelflæd ‘The Lady of the Mercians 918-2018’.  Speaking to a packed house, Professor Wood touched upon myths and misleading popular representations surrounding one of the most visible Anglo-Saxon women, before taking the audience through the archaeological evidence for Æthelflæd’s notable defensive achievements.  The lecture was followed by a very well attended launch party in the IoA.
