Omursen Yildirim

REGAIN Clinical Research Fellow

I am a Clinical Research Fellow at UCL Ear Institute working on the REGAIN trial, aimed at clinically testing the efficacy and safety of a new drug designed to treat sensorineural hearing loss.

Following my qualification from Istanbul University Cerrahpasa School of Medicine in 2006, I trained in ENT surgery and took up a consultant post in 2013. I have been practicing ENT surgery with a subspecialty interest in Rhinology and Allergy and Clinical Immunology for 12 years and commenced appointments as a lecturer and an Assistant Professor in academic and private institutions in 2015 in Istanbul, Turkey. During this period I developed an interest in immunopathological pathways leading to ENT disorders, which lead me to commence a research Ph.D. in Immunology. In 2017 I was awarded a Research Fellowship Award from the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology to investigate the innate lymphoid cells in the nasal mucosa with Prof Stephen Durham and his group Imperial College London.
