I joined the evidENT team in 2016 to work as the clinical trial manager on the VOCALIST feasibility study (investigating surgical treatments to improve the voice of adults with unilateral vocal fold paralysis) with Professor Martin Birchall. During my time in evidENT I have also helped with the REGAIN trial (early phase trial of a Notch inhibitor aimed at restoring hearing in adults with sensorineural hearing loss) and in the production of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the department.
Prior to evidENT, I completed an upper second special honours degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Biophysical Chemistry at the University of Sheffield. Following my PhD, I spent two doing post-doctoral work at the Consejo Superiore de Investigaciones Cientificas in Madrid and a further year at the Royal Free School of Medicine. I then left academia and spent 10 years working in clinical research initially in data management and, latterly, as a quality assurance auditor during which time I audited in-house groups (both in the UK and Europe) including the data entry, data management, statistics and medical writing groups, as well as performing audits of investigator sites and at external companies. I also helped to develop and run the in-house Good Clinical Practice training courses.
After a break to bring up my two children, I returned to clinical research in 2015 and worked at the UCL Comprehensive Clinical Trial Unit (CCTU) as a clinical trial manager before joining the evidENT team.
