Wim Brands Writer in Residence at UCL Dutch in 2013/14

Wim Brands will be Dutch Writer in Residence at UCL in 2013/14. The Writer in Residence, supported by the Nederlands Letterenfonds, will engage with students and staff in the department and actively contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

Wim Brands (*1959) is a well-known Dutch poet, journalist and presenter of literary programmes on both radio and television in the Netherlands. His poetic work, started at the age of 19, has been published in many literary journals, among them K.L. Polls's Hollands Maandblad (1987), as well as in the volumes In de metro ('On the Tube', 1997), De schoenen van de buurman ('Neighbour's Shoes', 1999) en Ruimtevaart ('Space Travel', 2005). His latest volume called Neem me mee, zei de hond ('Take me with you, said the dog', 2010) was published in 2010, followed by an anthology of the 50 best poems from his œuvre in 2012. Since September 2012 he also presents the literary programmes Brands in Donner in Rotterdam, as successor of Marcel Möring and Pieter Steinz.
