Ulrich Tiedau has been appointed a UCL Knowledge Transfer and Enterprise Champion for 2012. This part-time appointment was made by the Office of the Vice-Provost (Enterprise) and is financed by the Higher Education Innovation Fund.

Ulrich's project aims to continue furthering the idea of Open Educational Resources at UCL, provide advice and support to colleagues, and engage with UCL audiences in- and outside of academia.

The term Open Educational Resources (OER) was first introduced at a UNESCO conference in 2000 and is promoted in the context of providing free access to educational resources on a global scale. At the heart of the OER movement lies “the simple and powerful idea that the world’s knowledge is a public good and that technology in general and the World Wide Web in particular provide an extraordinary opportunity for everyone to share, use, and reuse that knowledge.”
