Ulrich Tiedau elected as UCML area studies representative

Ulrich Tiedau (UCL Dutch) has been elected to the Executive committee of the University Council for Modern Languages (UCML), as representative for Area Studies.

The University Council of Modern Languages (UCML) was established in 1993 and is the overarching national organisation which represents the interests of modern languages, linguistics and cultural and area studies in higher education throughout the United Kingdom, and works with corresponding bodies in other countries.

Its membership includes more than 100 schools and departments of modern languages in universities and colleges of higher education throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, together with professional and scholarly associations in the field of modern languages, and public and private educational organisations concerned with study, teaching and research into modern languages, linguistics and cultural and area studies.
